There are many things you can do in the days and weeks leading up to your breast implants surgery to help your big day go more smoothly. Preparing for breast implant surgery is not a physical time of preparation so much as a mental preparation. The surgeon will provide very specific instructions prior to surgery so you will have an optimal and safe experience.
Following are some of the GLOJAS recommended preparations before your breast implant surgery;
Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications. Quit smoking for at least 2 weeks pre-op. On the day of surgery, wear loose clothing which will be easy to get off and on after operation. Make arrangements to have someone drive you to and from the operation. If you have specific medical illnesses, allergies, or physical handicaps, please notify your doctor. Do not drink or eat after midnight on the night before your surgery. Basic investigations of urine examination, blood hemoglobin, group, and chest x-ray etc are some of the pre-operative tests. Patients are encouraged to take a multivitamin and vitamin C for general health and to promote healing.
People who are not good candidates for breast implants are those who have unrealistic expectations about the outcome of breast augmentation, those who have a general feeling of dissatisfaction with their bodies, or those who feel compelled to have surgery by others. Surgery to receive breast implants is a serious decision to be made by a person who is not under pressure from other surgeries.
The recovery period varies from person to person. After the surgery, the doctor is going to put bandages around the breasts to prevent swelling. The bandages are worn for several days. After they are removed, you will need to use a surgical bra. This bra is designed to prevent excessive pressure and give enough support to your new breasts.
Many normal activities such as driving may be restricted for up to one week. Sutures are usually removed in seven to 10 days. Typically, a woman can resume all routines, including vigorous exercise, in about three weeks. The scars will be red for approximately one month, but will fade to their final appearance within one to two years.
