Otoplasty

Stop Hiding Your Ears With Your Hair!

When it comes to photographs, you are constantly avoiding the camera. You have a large collection of hats and always wear your hair down. No more! Otoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that can help you reduce the appearance of your protruding ears. It is a fairly simple procedure that will make you feel better about yourself. When you turn to Otoplasty, you can say goodbye to those hats and start wearing a big smile anytime someone pulls out a camera.

Otoplasty is also known as cosmetic ear surgery, is done on the visible portion of the outer ear, known as the auricle. The auricle is made up of cartilage folds that are covered in skin. It begins to develop before birth and continues to develop in the years following birth. If your auricle fails to develop properly, you may opt for Otoplasty to correct the size, positioning, or shape of your ears.

The surgical technique used will be determined by the type of Otoplasty you are having. In general, Otoplasty entails the following procedures:

  • Making an incision on the back of your ear or inside the ear folds
  • Ear tissue manipulation can include removing cartilage or skin, folding and shaping cartilage with permanent stitches, or grafting cartilage to the ear
  • Stitches are used to close the incisions
